Eric Benet & Faith Evans "Christmas Without You"

There's nothing I love more than Soul/R&B Christmas music, and two of my favorite singers, Eric Benet and Faith Evans did not fail to disappoint. The mid-tempo "Christmas Without You" talks about being without the one you love on Christmas. Take a listen and leave a comment on what you think.

Song of The Day!

Happy Friday! It's the weekend and I'm feeling pretty good on this Friday afternoon. Here's a song and live performance of one of my favorite 70s hits, A Taste of Honey's 1978 mega-crossover hit, "Boogie Oogie Oogie".

This song soared to the top of the charts and was #1 on four Billboard charts which included, Pop, R&B, Club Play, and Disco Single. "Boogie Oogie Oogie" sold over two million copies and earned the group a Grammy award in 1979 for Best New Artist. This song is the epitome of funk, soul, and disco and is their biggest hit to date.

I love the fact that the two lead singers, Janice-Marie Johnson and Carlita Dorhan, are rocking it out on the mic and guitars. You didn't see that too often back in the day. Especially among the popularity of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Sly, Commodores, and other rock/funk groups primarily dominated by men. Nowadays, we are familiar with Beyonce's all-girl band, but salute to bands like A Taste of Honey and Klymaxx who came before them.

Have a good weekend and enjoy!

Style Watch: Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige

While the Queen of Hip Hop-Soul, Mary J. Blige, is gearing up for the release of her much anticipated album, My Life II...The Journey Continues (Act 1), we decided to take a trip down memory lane at some of her hairstyles over the years. Check em out after the jump.

Song of The day!

Listen to this soulful classic off of The O'Jay's debut album, The O'Jay's in Philadephia released in 1969. Something about their music that just changes your whole mood. This song is rather provocative if you pay attention to the lyrics lol, but singers back in the way had of way of saying what they wanted to do with you without being crass and vulgar. I miss that. They can teach these young singers a thing or two.

RnB Releases & Album Covers

This has been a great year of Soul and RnB with releases from Johnny Gill, Joe, Tyrese, Kelly Price, Jill Scott, Goapele and others. Releases from Keith Sweat, Eric Roberson, Maysa, Etta James, and Me'Shell Ndegeocello hit the stores today. If you haven't already copped them on iTunes, go out and support them. It's looking good for RnB and we want it to stay that way. :)

More album covers after the break...
