Throwback: Rare Clip of Brandy Singing Anita Baker's "You Bring Me Joy" [VIDEO]

I found a rare clip of a young Brandy singing Anita Baker's "You Bring Me Joy" on the short-lived sitcom Thea, which aired on ABC. Even though she only sings for .20 seconds, you can hear her raw talent. Check it out after the break!

Awww! Brandy looks so young and innocent here! I wonder if she knew during this time how far and fast she would blow up in the music industry and all that she would accomplish. She reminds me of myself here because growing up I was (and still am quite frankly) an Anita Baker stan! It takes a brave person to cover her songs.

Brandy played a 12 year-old daughter of a single working mom. In addition to acting on Thea, Brandy was also simultaneously recording her debut album. Although the show was cancelled (after 19 episodes), her album, Brandy, was released not long after selling over 6 million copies. This led to her eventually getting her own show on UPN, Moesha.

Oh, and that is Wendy Raquel Robinson aka Regina Greer aka Tasha "Ballin" Mack that you see along with Yvette Wilson who later plays Andell on Moesha and The Parkers. This was her first big break.

Brandy has certainly come a long way since these days. The singer and actress, now 33 and a mom, is preparing for the release of her long-awaited album, Two Eleven, which comes out in June. She can also be found on BET's hit comedy/drama The Game. In the meantime, check out the latest video to her single with Monica, "It All Belongs To Me" here.
